FIA Fund

Wanted to share another great opportunity provided by the Faith in Action Office fund.  The Housing Resource Center recently placed a client in housing.  With some serious medical issues, it was urgent she obtain a bed.  The FIA team was able to purchase a new mattress and box springs and have it delivered. The client was so thankful.
We would like to thank all of the recent supporters of the fund and remind anyone who would like to be part of this project, donations are being accepted through  Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia.  Checks can be mailed to the organization at 5361 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.  Please put "FAITH IN ACTION FUND" in the memo line.
Thanks again for your gifts.  They are greatly appreciated and tax deductible.

Assistance provided

It is a joy when we are able to provide assistance to those in need.  We had received a request from Stand Up for Kids (a Charity Tracker partner) that a couple was expecting a baby. We were happy to provide a few items for them.  We purchased a Pack n Play plus newborn diapers, wipes and a set of tee shirts.  Hoping this will alleviate some of the stress of beginning a family.  The money used has been donated to the Faith in Action fund from various members of the community.

If you are interested in making a contribution to this fund or getting more information, please email or call.

Grateful for Generous Gift

The Faith in Action Office is so grateful for a generous donation  from the Catholic Church of St. Mark.  We are so appreciative for the kindness and thoughtfulness of this congregation. We  acknowledge the fact, we could not accomplish what we do for the community, if it were not for our partners.  We are blessed to have the support of so many.  Together we can easy the suffering of others.

Utility Assistance

There was a need in the community for assistance with a Dominion Power bill totaling $862. The client had found housing but in order to move in, this past due amount had to be paid.  The community came together to pay this bill.  The FIA office was able to supply $300 and the rest was paid by the faith-based congregations.  What a blessings to have organizations come together to meet needs.

Homeless Family Obtains Housing

We are thankful for all of the agencies working together to help find housing and furniture for a mother and her 3 children.  This family has sent numerous emails thanking the various individuals involved in making their apartment their new home.  We always enjoy hearing stories with a happy ending.

Providing Assistance

We had a family from Project Hope with the  Virginia Beach Schools.  The family has twin girls in the 5th grade and a 17 year old boy.  They were finally able to find affordable housing.  When they moved in, the family had no furnishings.  Of course, the first need is always for beds.  After putting out the request, Ascension Catholic Church made a donation towards the need.  With funds from Faith in Action and the generous donation from Ascension, we were able to purchase 3 brand new mattresses. What a blessing to be able to bless others.

Special Thank You

We at the Faith in Action office would like to give a special "thank you" to Community United Methodist Church for the generous contribution to the Faith in Action fund.  The church office  has been closed for some time now, so they are willing to donate to the fund as part of their outreach program.   We are thankful for those that continue to support the less fortunate.. God bless.

My faith tells me that whatever talents we possess are gifts from above - they  are meant to be given to others and for us to share what we have.  The world is hungry for help and service - these are the gifts I can provide to promote hope and a sense of justice for all people.

For those of us with plenty, we must share our blessings with those who have barely enough.  During these unprecedented  times it is my desire to find a way that I can directly help those in our own communities who are struggling.  That is why I decided to donate my stimulus check to the Faith in Action Fund where I know it will be wisely used to help others.

I want to thank the Faith in Action office for helping me pay off the balance of an old utility bill so I could establish a new account for a new apartment.  After finding housing through the Housing Resource Center, I was worried I would not have any money to pay this account off.  I received a call for Faith in Action office and they immediately made the check to VA Public Utilities.  I am grateful for both of these organizations for meeting my need so quickly so I did not lose my apartment.

CH

Faith in Action office was able to assist the Housing Resource Center in placing a mother and 3 children into permanent housing.  All funds were collected from area churches to meet this need but still $100 short for admin fee.  Faith in Action had the funds to meet this need and were glad to help with getting the family into their own place. Thanks to all those who donate to this fund.

For more information in giving to this fund, please contact Nancy Will (nwill@cox.net).

During these uncertain and turbulent times, it is very easy to feel helpless.   Making a donation to the Faith in Action Fund helped us to feel empowered and know that we are able to make a positive impact by providing help to those directly in need.  Giving this way truly allows us to put our "faith into action" while prayerfully maintaining our help for a better tomorrow.

SPA & MTA

We, at the Faith in Action office, received an urgent request from a grandmother raising 3 of her grandchildren.  She had recently moved to this area.  She had exhausted her resources staying in a motel until she could find permanent housing.  Her request through the VB school district was for $150.00 to secure this apartment.  We are so thankful for all the donors to this FIA fund to help in a situation just like this.  Thank you all for the support.
